Week 1 Complete

We are ecstatic that the first week of radiation and chemo is complete.  So far, William has done marvelous.  Overall, his only side effects are that he is a little more tired (requiring him to sleep a bit more) and has had one day of nausea. I am so proud of my husband!  He is amazing!  I know I could not be going through what he is with as much poise and grace.  I am so thankful for the man I married!  He is and always will be a positive force to be reckoned with. Cancer, you don’t stand a chance!
We have been praying a lot as a family.  We say prayers to God to help, “Heal Daddy” and to keep him strong for his “treatments.”   We then say the Lord’s Prayer: “The Our Father.”  Abigail at the age of 4 can now recite the whole prayer by herself.  We are proud of her and are so blessed every day by our girls.
You may have noticed through our Facebook Team William site that the pictures for the last two days have only been of our “supergirl” and “batgirl” Audrey.  Big sister Abigail has traveled to Pennsylvania to spend some time with her aunt.  This was a little hard for us as a family because this was supposed to be our family vacation, and this was going to be William’s first time to go to HersheyPark with Abigail, who loves roller coasters, like her mommy and daddy.   After William’s diagnosis, we were no longer able to travel due to his current treatments, so we let Abigail go with my parents to have some fun and the rest of us stayed behind to take care of Daddy.  We did try to see if we could shorten our trip, so we could be together as a family, but we were unable to afford to change the tickets (and the airline wouldn't work with us), so we stayed behind and let her go.   Abigail called us tonight to wish us a good night before bed.  She had seen a play today with my family and it was about Noah and the Ark.  She said Noah was looking at the sky talking to God.  She leaned over during the play and told my sister, “I think Noah was talking to God asking him to make Daddy better.”  Such a sweet and loving child.
The last few days William and I have stayed up at night and talked a lot about things.  It has been good how in a strange way this diagnosis has only strengthened our marriage more.   It has made us refocus on spending more time each day talking to each other and telling each other how we feel.  I only wish now I could rewind and just have done this everyday with him since our wedding day.   I am not perfect and I know that, but I am sure trying to be better about it now.
I want to again thank everyone for all their prayers and support for Team William.  We are so blessed by each and every one of you whether we know you personally or not.   Thank you for believing in my husband and this fight.  We got this and we will beat this cancer despite any statistics.  Celebration for the week: 1 week of radiation down!!!!!
Pictures below are of Audrey and Daddy in their Superman and Batman gear.  We are bringing in all the “fighters” we can to help BEAT CANCER!  We are trying to keep spirits up for William with these shirts and outfits (corny maybe, but fun).
Again this journey is just the beginning….

*Many of you have asked how they can help support the Lewis family.  Here is a list of ideas.  Thank you SO much in advance for your encouragement and love.

Specific Prayers:
-Pray that William will continue to have minimal side effects from the radiation and chemo and continue to handle this fight with the grace and poise he has been.
-Pray for blessings to those who struggle with all types of cancer as we know each of us has been touched by someone close to us that has suffered with this diagnosis.
-Pray for more opportunities to go on family vacations again in the near future.
